Originally hailing from Germany, Anne-Marie is a former student of Canada’s National Ballet School. She initially trained under the tutelage of Anne-Marie Pilon-Gerdun; Ontario’s current provincial representative of the Cecchetti Society of Canada. She later trained with The School of Alberta Ballet’s summer programme before being accepted into their professional division by the Kilgours themselves. Upon high school graduation, Anne-Marie went on to complete her BFA (Honours) in Dance from York University, where she was featured in the original version of “Tela Bianca,” which was met to critical acclaim from Toronto Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director, and was later commissioned as an adaptation for the York Dance Ensemble’s performing company.Download CV Read more...
She subsequently trained and graduated from Canada’s National Ballet School Teacher’s Training Program, becoming accredited with the Cecchetti Society in June 2011 with Distinction. While studying at the school, Anne-Marie choreographed for the Senior Ballet students' Spring Showcase as well as substituted for former NBoC principal Martine Lamy in the recreational programme, assisted in the Level II Ballet Professional Programme, and also was the substitute rehearsal director for Laurel Toto with the Junior Professional students in conjunction with the National Ballet of Canada's "Nutcracker".
During her post-secondary education, Anne-Marie was able to learn technique, choreography, history and theory from some of Canada's biggest names in both Modern/Contemporary and Classical dance, as well as Exercise Science. Some of these artists include: Carol Anderson, Holly Small, Helen Jones, Karen Bowes-Sewell, Donna Krasnow, Julia Sasso, David Earle, Louis Laberge-Côté, Glenn Gilmour and Jane Wooding to name a few.
Anne-Marie has trained, danced, taught and choreographed for a variety of schools and companies in countries such as the U.S.A, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, and Singapore as well as throughout Canada.
These companies include: HNM Dance (Windsor), The Dance Company (Toronto), Dancetheatre David Earle (Guelph), Dance Nonce (Detroit), Frontier Danceland as well as The Human Experience (T.H.E) Dance Company (Singapore), CollabArt Creations and DansArts Performing Arts Company (Vancouver). Several different international company invitations have been from: the Yat Sen Chang Ballet Company (London) and Boston Dance Company for full contracts, as well as Spellbound Contemporary Ballet (Rome) and the Macedonian National Ballet as a guest artist.
Other notable places of training include: the American Cecchetti International Summer School, Tanzprojekt München, and Ballettschule für das Opernhaus Zürich.
Anne-Marie was recently the sole recipient internationally in 2016 of the highly prestigious Maestro Enrico Cecchetti Diploma, under the direction of the esteemed Heidi Zolty. Anne-Marie currently holds her Licentiate teaching status with Cecchetti International Classical Ballet.
She was invited to be a guest teacher for the Helsingin Tanssiopisto, Helsinki's oldest dance institute, to teach technique to their Junior and Senior students in the professional programme as well as commissioned to create a new piece entitled "Concerto Brioso" for the senior class to be a part of their repertoire for the '16-'17 as well as the '17-'18 seasons. Anne-Marie has most recently been asked to be a Guest Speaker for Canada's National Academy of Dance Education to talk about her own experiences of what modern day dance training should entail.
Anne-Marie will soon be traveling to Europe to pursue dance contracts as well as offered guest teaching positions.
